June 21, 2010 -- Creative Community Services,
Inc. recently received a two-year Common Goods Fund grant totaling $90,000 from
The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta . This represents the third largest
grant awarded in the Spring 2010 Common Goods grant cycle and will be used to
build agency capacity to meet the growing needs of children in foster care with
mental health needs and children and adults with developmental disabilities.
"CCS has been keeping children and adults with mental health needs and developmental
disabilities out of institutions and in homes with families, where they belong,
for 27 years." said Sally Buchanan, CCS Founder and Executive Director. "Ongoing
state and federal funding cuts are threatening the availability of these services
in the community, but with a long history of partnership and resource sharing,
CCS is well-positioned to continue to meet the needs of these individuals. We
are grateful and proud that The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta supports
our efforts to be proactive and innovative in building supports to ensure that
every child and adult in our care reaches their maximum individual potential."
